The Henning volleyball team is coming off an impressive 21-9 season that included a perfect 7-0 Park Region Conference record and the conference championship.  The Hornets lost varsity veterans Grace Hammer and Emma Severson to graduation, but the cupboard is far from bare!

“We bring back a core of great players,” commented Head Coach Kristy Finck, now in her 13th season.  “Ally Hart (SR), Lyvia Misegades (JR) and Faith Fisher (SR) bring back the most experience.  Hart has started varsity since 8th grade and Fisher and Misegades since they were freshmen.  All three were on our team that made it to state in 2019.  I feel our defense is our strength and our weakness is blocking.  This is something that gets overlooked a lot in practice, so we will be focusing more on it this season.”

Seniors Gretchen Eckhoff, Becca Frederick, Lily Frank, Aaliyah Olson and Natalie Eckhoff are also experienced players at the varsity level.  Finck expects freshman Myeisha Antoni to step into a varsity role this season.

Kayla Hoelscher, Jessica Iliff, Naomi Horn and junior high coach Rachel Greenwaldt round out the coaching staff.

“I feel all the teams are going to be solid in Section 6A this year,” added Finck.  “There were a lot of young players playing last season.  Breckenridge lost a lot of seniors, however, their JV was very solid, so I think they will be reloading and be very tough to beat.  I feel you cannot look past any team.  Each night is a different night of playing and I feel any team can beat the next.”
