The Brandon-Evansville volleyball team is coming off a 14-11 season which saw them lose three players, Olivia Otto, Taylor Yeats and Kaytlyn Pattrin to graduation.  Head Coach Kelly Olson is in his eleventh season at the help and the Chargers enter the 2022 season with a solid nucleus of upperclassmen returning.

“I expect we will build on the experience we gained last year and compete every day,” said Coach Olson.  “Our experienced players on the team should help the new players as the new season starts.  We are returning one player from injury, and our newest team members are looking like we have good depth at all positions.”

Returning starters and letter winners include seniors Sydney Schaefer (Setter), Gretchen Bredberg (Middle Blocker), EmmaLee Brethorst (Middle Blocker), Grace Otto (Defensive Specialist) and Kendall Hoidahl (Setter/Defensive Specialist), and juniors Kylee Dingwall (Outside Hitter), Taylor Suchy (Defensive Specialist) and Skylar Bitzan (Outside Hitter).

Sophomores Haddy Baune (Middle Blocker), Taylor Dingwall (Outside Hitter), Hallie Richter (Defensive Specialist), Courtney Brethorst (Right Side) and Claire Boesl (Outside Hitter) will also be in the mix for varsity court time.

“The keys to a successful season will be to pass and serve the ball at a high level,” added Olson.  “Along with those two aspects we will have to play good defense and be able to transition quickly.  With the group of kids we have this year we should be able to limit mental errors and focus on playing in the moment.”

Abecca Erickson (Associate Head Coach), Kami Dingwall (Assistant Coach), Pam Schjei (Middle School) and Heidi Elmer (Middle School) will round out the coaching staff.

Coach Olson points to Henning, Underwood, Wheaton and CGB as top teams in Section 6A, with Underwood, CGB, Wheaton and Parkers Prairie vying for the Little Eight Conference title.
