3-Run Seventh Leads Canes Past Bucks in Countryside League Action

In a battle between two of the top teams in the Countryside League, the Fergus Falls Hurricanes defeated the Breckenridge Bucks 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park in Fergus Falls.

Darin Stanislawski (8IP, 14K, 0BB, 7H, 3R, 1ER) was the winning pitcher.

The Canes scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings to take a 3-0 lead.  Sean McGuire led off the bottom of the first by reaching on an error, took second on a passed ball, stole third and scored on a two-out single by Stanislawski.  A solo home run by Alex Hensch leading off the third made it 2-0 and with one out in the fourth Pete Gaustad walked and scored on a double by McGuire.

Breckenridge tied the game with three runs in the sixth.  Jack Hiedeman reached on an infield single to lead off.  After two outs were recorded Sam Ovsak singled Hiedeman to second and he scored on a base hit by Aaron NepplAustin Ramos reached on an infield single to load the bases and Jarrod Aamold reached on an infield error which allowed two runs to cross the plate.

The Canes regained the lead in the seventh.  Alex Hexum led off with a single and took second base on an outfield error.  Thomas Bosek drove him home with a double.  Austin Stanislawski advanced Bosek to third with a single and then stole second base.  Both runners scored on a single by McGuire.

Leading hitters for Fergus Falls were McGuire (2-5, 2B, R, SB, 3RBI), Hensch (2-5, HR, SB, R, RBI), Tosten Mann (2-5, 2B), Darin Stanislawski (3-4, RBI) and Hexum (2-5, R).

Breckenridge was led at the plate by Mitch Porter (2-3, HBP) and Neppl (2-4, 2B, R, RBI).
