After recording a 3-0 win over Upsala/Swanville Area in an elimination game on Tuesday afternoon at Minnewaska Area High School in Glenwood, the Ashby baseball team was knocked out of the Section 6A Tournament when they fell to Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, 8-3.

Carter Spangler turned in a magnificent performance on the mound in the 3-0 win over the Patriots, striking out 6 and allowing just 3 hits and no runs in his final starting assignment of his pitching career at Ashby.  Spangler finished his senior season with 8 wins and no losses.  He also delivered a RBI with a sacrifice fly and scored a run after drawing a walk.

Hitting leaders for the Arrows were Torin Olson (1-3, 2B, RBI), Hunter Norby (1-3, RBI), Easton Nelson (1-3, R) and Kellen Dahlen (1-3, R).

Levi Lampert had two hits in three at bats to lead Upsala/Swanville Area.

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning, added a run in the second and after Ashby cut the lead to 6-3 the Jaguars added a pair of seventh inning runs on a two-run homer by Luke Dingmann.  Winning pitcher Ashton Dingmann went the distance on the mound and also contributed a double and a two-run single at the plate.

Brodie Ecker clouted a two-run homer in the second to get the Arrows on the scoreboard, and added a seventh inning single to finish 2-for-3.  Evan Paulson went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored a run.  Torin Olson reached base in three of his four plate appearances, walking in the first singling in the fifth and coming through with a double in the seventh.

Ashby ends their season with a 19-4 record.

BBE will now face New York Mills at 2:00pm Thursday in an elimination game back at Minnewaska Area High School in Glenwood, with the winner moving on to face Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in the Section 6A championship series.
