The Alexandria Girls Golf Team is headed to State!  After the first day of competition, the Cardinals trailed Brainerd by 7 shots and were tied with Detroit Lakes.  Both of these teams, along with the Cardinals, are top 10 teams in the state rankings.  The Cardinals made a statement very early in the round on the second day.  The lady Cards made up the 7 shot deficit after the first 2 holes, and were 2-under par as a team through the first 5 holes.  “We encountered a few missteps along the way, but rode the momentum to the finish line,” said Head Coach Tim Zupfer.  “In the end, the team posted a 2-day team score that was 14 shots better than Brainerd's.”

All 6 of their players posted scores that were lower than their score on the first day.  “We were the only team to have all 6 players shoot 90 or better the 2nd day,” noted Coach Zupfer. “We were also the only team to have 4 players finish in the top 10.  Our 2nd day team score was also 27 shots better than the first day.  Individually, we had 3 scores in the 70's on day 2.  Hannah Boraas made up a 7-shot deficit to finish as the Section Medalist.”
