Fergus Falls, Hawley and Barnesville Boys Qualify for Section 8AA Championship Golf Meet

Fergus Falls claimed the Section 8AA South Sub-Section Boys’ Golf title on Wednesday, shooting a team score of 333 to finish two strokes in front of runner-up Hawley (335).  Barnesville was third with a 352.  Those three teams will join the top three finishers in the North Sub-Section, Roseau 310, Warroad 322 and Thief River Falls 354 in the Section 8AA Championship Meet.

Jack Justesen of Hawley fired a 75 to take medalist honors in the South Sub-Section.  Second place went to Marcus Belka of Perham with a 79 and Ryan Nelson of Fergus Falls was third with an 81.  Charlie Fuder of the Otters took fourth with an 82 and Cadin Pederson of Hawley shot an 84 to take fifth place.

South Sub-Section qualifiers not on advancing teams are as follows:
Marcus Belka (Perham, 79), Carter Hilluka (UNC, 85), Braden Glorvigen (Perham, 89), Cole Reuter (Perham, 91) and Joey Hillukka (UNC, 91).

Max Wilson of Roseau and Hampton Slukynsky of Warroad tied for first place with rounds of 73.  Teagan LaPlante of Roseau was third with a 76 and Markus Nelson of the Rams took fourth with an 80.  Four golfers shared fifth place with 81’s.  They are Brendan Bottem of Thief River Falls, Sawyer Ginther of Roseau, Jason Shaugaby and Landon Haggan of Warroad.

North Sub-Section qualifiers not on advancing teams are as follows:
Nolan Eckman (Park Rapids, 85), Garrett Fischer (Crookston, 87), Conner Hanson (Park Rapids, 89), Adam Vatnsdal (East Grand Forks, 90), Micah Ellis (East Grand Forks, 92).  Cole Bies of East Grand Forks earned the final qualifying spot with a playoff win over Ian Phrakonkahm of Bagley.

The Section Tournament will be held on Monday and Tuesday at Bemidji Town and Country Club.
