The Fergus Falls boys’ tennis team won their Section 8A quarterfinal match with New London-Spicer 5-2 on Monday, but then fell in the semifinals to Thief River Falls, 6-1, ending their team season.  The individuals' portion of the tournament continues on Tuesday. Dove Schierer and Luke Schroeder will take to the court in singles and the teams of Carter Ness/Grant Ackerson and Reno Scheirer/Ethan Leopold will play doubles.

“We had an exciting QF match with NLS,” reported Otter Assistant Coach Roy Anderson. “The teams are very evenly matched and NLS had won their previous match 4-3 against us.  Carter Ness and Grant Ackerson set the tone early and the rest of the guys fed off of that energy. The FF guys have been a close knit group all season and did a tremendous job of picking each other up. When one spot got down, the teammates nearby cheered them on and encouraged them. It was really a fun atmosphere to be around today. Dove Scheirer clinched the team win after fighting back from a one set deficit, a set that he lost 6-0. Grant did a really nice job of picking him up on the changeovers and inspired him to keep digging when he wasn't at his best. Dove did a fantastic job of hanging in there and making his opponent hit extra balls. It was fun to see one of our seniors clinch the team victory."
