Otter Girls Win Bemidji Invite, Jyrkas Earns Co-Medalist Honors

Fergus Falls won the Bemidji Girls Golf Invitational on Wednesday at the Town and Country Club in Bemidji, firing a 340 to finish well ahead of runner-up Staples-Motley at 368.  Third place went to East Grand Forks 378, followed by Bemidji 379, Roseau 393, Crookston 394 and Thief River Falls 447.

“The girls played really well as a team today,” stated Head Coach Ben Jurgens of the Otters.  From players 1-6 everyone was solid in their scoring.”

Annika Jyrkas secured her second co-medalist honor of the year with an 81, sharing the top honor with Tatum Offerdahl of Bemidji.  Ellia Soydara turned in a score of 83 to place third and Mallory Uselman of Staples-Motley was fourth with an 84.  Ella Mayer of the Otters shared fifth place with Alea Oshie of East Grand Forks as both girls shot round of 87.  Walker Johnson of Staples-Motley was seventh with an 88, Annie Mayer of Fergus Falls took eighth with an 89, Kayla Thompson of East Grand and Lexi Metcalf of the Otters tied for ninth place, recording rounds of 90.  Olivia Jurgens completed the Otter scoring with a 102.

“In the past couple of days the girls have played really well, posting two scores of 340,” reported Coach Jurgens.  “Annika and Ella are really setting the pace.  Lexi is knocking at the door to join the scores in the 80’s and it’s just a matter of time.”
