CGB Girls Sweep Conference Games From Wheaton/Herman-Norcross

Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley banged out 16 hits on Thursday in their 15-9 softball victory over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross.  In their second game of the day the Wolverines used a 9-run third inning to take an 11-8 victory over the Warriors.

In game one, the Wolverines scored four in the top of the first, however, the Warriors came back to take a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the inning.  CGB regained the lead with 3 in the top of the second for a 7-5 lead.  The game was tied 8-8 after four innings and the Wolverines took control of the game with five runs in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Jessica Moberg (2-4, HR, 2RBI, 4R, 2BB, 2SB), Grace Groehner (2-5, 2B, 3RBI, 2R, 2SB), Mikaelyn Johnson (3-4, 2B, 2RBI, 2R, BB) and Emmy Anderson (1-4, 2B, 3RBI, R, BB) were the offensive leaders for CGB.  Grace Cardwell (7IP, 12H, 9R, 4ER, 3BB, 3K) went the distance in the circle, earning the victory.

The Warriors were led by Jordyn Perry (2-4, 2RBI, 2R), Emily Drewicke (2-4, RBI, 2R) and Addison Blume (2-4, 2R).

In game two, Wheaton/Herman-Norcross took a 6-1 lead with a six-run third inning, however, it didn’t last long as CGB put a 9-spot on the board in the bottom of the inning.  The Warriors pulled to within two with a pair of sixth inning runs, but CGB held on for the win.  Wheaton/Herman-Norcross had 15 hits to the Wolverines 12.

Leaders for the Warriors were Cardwell (3-4, 2 2B, RBI, 2R), Moberg (2-3, 2R, BB, SB), Groebner (1-3, 2RBI, R), M Hennessy (1-3, 2RBI, R) and Hayley Ward (1-3, 2RBI, R).

Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley was led at the plate by Blume (3-5, 2B, RBI, 2R), Perry (3-4, RBI, R), Sadie Vipond (2-4, 2RBI, R), Lesley Rinke (2-3, RBI, R) and Anna Brights (2-4, RBI, 2R).

Moberg (7IP, 15H, 8R, 7ER, 1BB, 4K) was the winning pitcher.
