Ashby won a pair of high school baseball games from Brandon-Evansville on Thursday, taking the first game of a double header 4-3 and won the second game by the score of 5-1.

Ashby grabbed an early lead in the top of the first inning of game one when Torin Olson doubled and later scored on Carter Spangler’s RBI hit.  Ashby added another run in the third and two more in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead into the last inning.  Brandon-Evansville made things exciting in the bottom of the seventh with three runs of their own and left the bases loaded.

“It was great to see our guys keep battling until the last pitch and to show resilience,” said B-E Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “Unfortunately, we missed some golden opportunities earlier in the game that came back to haunt us.”

Riley Perleberg went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Chargers.

Hunter Norby (3.1IP, 2H, 4K, 0R) earned the win on the mound.  Evan Paulson recorded the last two outs to earn the save for the Arrows.  Bradee Christianson led Ashby with two hits in three at bats.

Ashby scored the first run of game two on first inning sacrifice fly by Norby and went on to take a 5-0 lead.  The Arrows launched a pair of home runs as Paulson and Mattson Hoff both homered in the first.  Paulson was 2-for-2 at the plate and the Arrows didn’t commit an error in the contest.

The Chargers once again struggled to get the clutch hit when they needed it and left runners on base in all but one inning.  “We were able to get guys on base, but couldn’t finish the job,” said Coach Perleberg.  “Brady Perleberg threw very well in 4 2/3 innings of relief, not allowing any runs and mixing his pitches nicely.  Defensively, we weren’t as sharp as we needed to be to come out on top against a team of their caliber.  They have a lot of offensive weapons and play great defense.”

Carter White and Dezmond White both went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Chargers.
