Brandon-Evansville swept a Pheasant Conference softball double header from Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Wednesday in Brandon.  The Chargers won game one, 7-2, and then posted a 17-7 six-inning victory over the Warriors in the nightcap.

In the first game B-E scored four runs in the first inning and that was all Taylin Kramer (7IP, 4H, 2R, 1ER, 2BB, 7K) would need as she pitched very well for the Chargers.  Hitting leaders were Sydney Schaefer (4-4, 2B, 3R), Kramer (2-3, 2B, R, RBI), Kylee Dingwall (1-4, R, 2RBI), Sophie Koep (1-3, 2B, R, RBI) and Haddy Baune (1-2, R, 2RBI).

“We came out strong in this first game having a 1-2-3 top half of the first inning and then putting 4 runs on the board,” reported Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Kasi Sieling. “Sydney Schaefer had a great game at the plate by putting the ball in play and putting the pressure on the defense which helped get things going offensively. I thought Taylin did an excellent job in this first game throwing strikes and letting her defense work behind her, it’s always helps a pitcher when we can play an error-free game. Offensively, we did a good job of getting on base and moving our runners around any way we could.”

The Chargers scored in every inning of game two, ending it by the 10-run rule by scoring five times in the sixth inning.  Haddy Baune (4IP, 1H, 3R, 0ER, 2BB, 3K) earned her first career varsity win.  Schaefer (2-5, 2R, 2RBI), Dingwall (1-2, 3R), Koep (1-4, R, 2RBI), Maddie Stich (2-4, R, 2RBI) and Hallie Richter (2-5, 4RBI) led the offensive attack.

“In game 2 of this doubleheader we got to see some of our younger girls really step up and be successful on the varsity field,” noted Coach Sieling. “Haddy Baune collected her first varsity win by throwing some solid innings. Hallie Richter had a nice night at the plate and did a great job of moving runners around and bringing runs in. Defensively we had some miscues and things we need to clean up, but overall, this was a solid team victory. These were two tough games we’re happy to walk away with the wins and look forward to more conference games on Friday in Hancock.”

The Warriors were led by Megyn Kelly (2-4, 3R), Emily Drewicke (1-3, 2B, 2R) and Jordyn Perry (1-2, 2RBI).
