Spartan Baseball Teams Gains Road Split with Anoka-Ramsey

The M State baseball team split a double header with Anoka-Ramsey on Tuesday in Coon Rapids.  The Rams won the opener 9-3 and the Spartans took game two, 7-2.

M State led game won 2-1 when Anoka-Ramsey scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth, three in the fifth and one more in the sixth to take a 9-2 lead.  The Rams collected 10 hits in the game and held M State to just four.  Daniel Buendorf went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in to lead the Spartans.  Dylan Gertken contributed a double and scored a run.  Noah Aufdengarten had the other hit, a single.  Max Brommerich drove in a run for M State.  Brock Depute (4IP, 7H, 5R, 1ER, BB, 2K) took the loss.

Leaders for Anoka-Ramsey were Derek Heldman (3-3, 2B, 3RBI, 2R, SB, BB), Landon Seibel (2-3, 2RBI, R, BB) and Zach Ziesmer (2-4, 2B, 2R).  Drake Locklear and Blake Ramberg had runs scoring base hits.  Drew Jones (4IP, 3H, 1ER, 1BB, 2K) was the winning pitcher and Brayden Buttweiler (3IP, H, 2ER, 2BB, 4K) finished up on the mound.

Christian Norby (4-4, 2B, RBI, R) led the M State offense in their game two victory.  Ty Kargar (2-4, 2B, 2RBI), Dylan Gertken (2-4, RBI, R), Daniel Buendorf (2-4, 2R) and Jackson Martin (1-2, 2B, RBI, 2R) also had good days at the plate.  Brett Engelmeyer (6IP, 7H, 2R, 1ER, 1BB, 4K) turned in a solid performance on the mound to move his season record to 2-3.  Mike Short (1IP, 1K) pitched the seventh inning for M State.

The Spartans (10-20) have a 7:00pm contest Wednesday against NDSCS in Wahpeton, will travel to Willmar to face Ridgewater on Saturday and return home to close out their regular season schedule with two games against the Warriors.
