Hawley was able to complete a Heart O’ Lakes Conference double header sweep of the Perham Yellowjackets in softball on Thursday as the Nuggets posted wins of 11-0 and 21-4 in a pair of games decided by the Mercy Rule after five innings.

Elle Hastings struck out ten batters and scattered 3 hits as she hurled a complete game shutout in the opener.  Hawley used a 9-run third inning to put the game away.  The rally started with Kaylie and Kylie Crabtree hitting back-to-back doubles, followed by a home run by Hastings.  Kaylie Crabtree also had a bases-clearing double in the inning.

Bri Hofmann, Hannah Zachariason and Morgan Burkman had the Perham hits.

Hawley scored five runs in the first, five in the third and broke it open with eight more in the fourth in game two.  Perham answered with a run in the first when Morgan Smith doubled and eventually scored.  Perham stranded two runners in the inning.  Perham cut into the 5-1 lead in the second inning when Delaney Kellogg was hit by a pitch and came around to score.  Ryleigh Mickelson brought in a run with a single.  Morgan Smith hit a two-run home run in the fourth for the Yellowjackets.  Eagan Hastings was the winning pitcher for the Nuggets.
