The Fergus Falls Boys golf team kicked off their season on Thursday competing in the first CLC event of the year at St. Cloud Country Club.  The Otter golfers have yet to hit a shot outdoors before the tournament.  Not really knowing what to expect, the Otters showed that all their hard work indoors really paid off.

Riley McGovern and Ryan Nelson tied each other for the win in the 48 person event as each fired their career low score of 78. It is the first high school individual win for both of them.  The team finished in 3rd overall with a score of 332.  Sartell won the team competition with a 322 while Willmar finished 2nd with a 330.  Brainerd was 4th with a 341 while Alexandria finished 5th with a 345.  "I'm so proud of all of these boys and for Riley and Ryan, both sophomores, to win an event with all of these great golfers playing, I just couldn't be prouder of them," said head coach Matt McGovern.

Rounding out the scoring for Fergus was Gavin Goepferd and Charlie Fuder who both shot 88.  Ninth grader, Adam Kennedy, shot a 90 and Luke Norgard, playing in his first varsity event, shot a 101.

The Otters will look to carry their momentum in the CLC on Monday when they compete at The Territory against the same teams.
