Osakis won both the boys’ and girls’ titles at the Belle Gelle Track and Field Invitational on Tuesday. The boys scored 128.5 points and Holdingford was second with 122. They were followed by Parkers Prairie 98, Upsala/Swanville 58, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 55.5, Melrose Area 50 and Ashby/Brandon-Evansville 37. The Osakis girls won with 155.666 points and Holdingford was runner-up with 122. Third place went to Parkers Prairie with 98 points, followed by Upsala/Swanville 58, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 55.5, Melrose Area 50 and Ashby-Brandon-Evansville 37.
"It was a long, much anticipated wait but we were finally able to get our first outdoor Track Meet in for the 2022 season,” said Ashby/Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Zachary Traphagen. “We were really proud of the kids battling the cold weather elements today and had a few kids set PR's today. Hopefully we can continue to get meets in so that these athletes can keep competing.”
On the girls side Lucea Wales had a nice overall day collecting four Top 5 finishes (TJ, 300H, 4x2, 4x4). Ashley Paulsen finished with three Top 5 finishes (1600, 800, 4x4) and Skylar Bitzan had a nice day as well (100, 4x2, 200).
For the boys, Logan Haburn had a great day on the track with three top 5 finishes (100, 200, 4x4), Nathan Anderson also ran well (100, 300H, 4x4), and Micah Fossell had two top 3 finishes (3200 and 4x8).
