Spartans Earn Split of Double Header with St. Cloud

The M State Spartans earned a split of their Tuesday double header with St. Cloud as they dropped the first game 9-5 and won game two, 7-6.

In game one, Mike Short had a grand slam home run, four runs batted in and two runs scored.  Daniel Buendorf added a double in three trips to the plate.  Christian Lessman (5IP, 3H, 4R, 6K) was the winning pitcher for the Cyclones.  Jackson Peter had 3 hit in four at bats to lead St. Cloud.  Carter Wessel (2-5, RBI, R), Dylan Haskamp (2-3) and Frank Fernandez (2-3, 2B, R) all had multiple-hit games for the visitors.

Will Hoerneman (4.1IP, 2H, 0R, 4K) was the winning pitcher in game two.  Noah Aufdengarten (1-3, RBI, 4) and Short (2-3, R) each had a double and Dylan Gertken (1-2, SF, RBI, R) stole a base.  Cal Schmitz (2-3, 2R) also contributed multiple hits in the contest.  Drew Beier (4-4, 2B, RBI, 3R) and Austin Kantola (2-4, RBI, R) were the hitting leaders for the Cyclones.

M State will host Riverland Community College on Wednesday afternoon.
