Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Capitalizes on OTC Errors to Post 5-1 Win

Ottertail Central collected six hits on Tuesday and Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale had only one, however, Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale was able to secure a 5-1 win over the Bulldogs, capitalizing on OTC errors to score four unearned runs in the game.

The game was tied at 1-1 with Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale batting in the top of the eighth when an error scored two runs.  OTC had tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh when a wild pitch brought the runner home.

Gavin Pausch (7IP, 1H, 1R, 3K) started the game for OTC and Kaleb Hammes was saddled with the loss.  “I feel for Gavin, he had an awesome start on the mound and we just couldn’t back his performance,” said Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson of the Bulldogs.  Gavin has now allowed only one earned run in 12 innings pitched and has two no-decisions.  We need to be better offensively.”

Hunter Haugen, Owen Buehler, Soren Floden, Kale Misegades, Lane Dilly and Garrett Nelson each collected on hit for the Bulldogs.  Shawn Schmitz led Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale with one hit in three at bats.
