Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Suffers 3 Softball Losses on Saturday

The Wheaton/Herman-Norcross softball team lost three games on Saturday, falling to Paynesville, 24-19, Morris Area, 11-10 and Valley City, 8-2.

The Warriors softball team lost the lead late in their loss to Paynesville.  The game was tied at 17 with Paynesville batting in the bottom of the sixth inning.  The Warriors lost despite collecting 16 hits compared to 5 for Paynesville.  Emily Drewicke had 4 hits in 5 at bats to lead Wheaton/Herman-Norcross.  Sadie Vipond, Lesley Rinke, Jordyn Perry and Addison Blume contributed two hits apiece.  Three Warriors stole at least two bases, led by Drewicke with 5.  Paynesville stole 12 bases during the game.

It came down to the last play of the game, but Wheaton/Herman-Norcross was on the wrong end of an 11-10 defeat at the hands of the Morris Area Tigers.  The Warriors fought back to tie the game on the strength of an eight-run fifth inning.  Blume, Perry, Sadie Vipond, Lydia Vipond and Rinke all drove in runs in the inning.  Perry (4IP, 2H, 7R) started in the circle and was relieved by Anna Brights (2IP).  Wheaton/Herman-Norcross had 12 hits with Megyn Kelly, Drewicke, Vipond and Blume all collection multiple hits, led by Kelly who had three hits in four at bats.

In their 8-2 loss to Valley City the Warriors fell behind early and struggled to get back into the game.  Jordyn Perry delivered a RBI single to plate one run for the Warriors and Lydia Vipond had the other Wheaton/Herman-Norcross hit.  Brights (6IP, 6K, 8H, 7R) was the starting pitcher for the Warriors with Makayla Bertrum throwing one inning of relief.
