The Frazee girls’ golf team has everyone coming back from a team that finished fourth in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference last season, including All-Conference golfer Krysten Halverson.  Halverson and Madeline Matejka both advanced from their sub-section meet to the Section 8AA meet in 2021.

“We return a very experienced team with a lot of varsity experience,” commented Head Coach Dave Conzemius.  “Seniors Madeline Matejka (5 years on varsity), Alexis Mack (4 years on varsity) and McKenzie Wake (2 years on varsity) are back, along with juniors Krysten Halverson (4 years on varsity) and Taylor Walker (1 year on varsity).”

Freshman Emma Wiseman transferred in from Red Lake Falls where she qualified for the Section meet as an eighth-grader.

“We are excited about our numbers this season as we have 26 girls out for golf, which is the most we have had out since I have been the head coach (11 years),” said Conzemius.  “The previous high was last year when we had 15.  We have a nice mix in the grades with three seniors, two juniors, one sophomore, seven freshmen, nine eighth-graders and four seventh-graders.  The older girls are great role models for the younger girls and we are hopeful to be in the top half of the HOL and to also have the chance to advance the team or some individuals to the Section meet.”

Jerry Bellefeuille and Becky Matejka will assist Conzemius.

Conzemius says, “In the HOL, Perham and Hawley will battle it out for the top spot.  In the Section, defending champion Fergus Flals will be joined by Perham, Hawley and Crookston as the front runners.”
