With every varsity golfer on the roster returning for the 2022 season, there is great reason for optimism on the Alexandria girls’ golf team.  The Cardinals won the Central Lakes Conference title, were Section 8AAA champs and took the Class AAA Minnesota State championship in 2021.  With no graduating golfers from that extremely successful team, they are without a doubt the favorites to repeat that trifecta.

“Our ball striking is good, as a number of players take private lessons from professional swing coaches,” noted Head Coach Tim Zupfer, now in his fourteenth season.  “We have seven returning letter winners with plenty of varsity experience.  The top 4 in our lineup have four years or more of varsity playing experience.  So far this spring the weather is our biggest frustration.  It has slowed our short game work.  We also have a large number of new freshmen and two new sophomores, giving us our largest roster in a number of years.”

The lady Cards will be led by seniors Cora Larson, Lauren Rebrovich and Isabella Hagen, along with juniors Hannah Boraas and Aisling O’Connor.  Freshman Rachel Bowen and eighth-grader Ellie Sticha are the other returning letter winners.

Juniors Teryn Jaworski and Ella Houska, sophomores Grace Herzog and Avery Sinning, and freshmen Savannah Auran, Kennedy Ellingson, Dania Hale/Jaquez, Hailey Iverson, Alexis Loosbrock, Zoey Quinn, Malorie Raether, Chloe Scholl and Haley Srock round out the roster.

Zupfer, who will be assisted by Lauren Stockmoe, says Brainerd and Fergus Falls will present the biggest challenge in the Central Lakes Conference, while Brainerd and Detroit Lakes will be the main challengers in Section 8AAA.
