Britt Bruzek begins year number one as head coach of the Alexandria softball team with a strong nucleus of returning varsity players off the Cardinals 15-9 season a year ago, a season that some them advance to the Section 8AAA finals.  They posted a 10-6 Central Lakes Conference mark last year.  Bruzek will be assisted by Courtney Richardson, Jackie Stifter (JV) and Jacob Smith (9th Grade).

Returning players include seniors Jordan O’Kane (P/OF), Brooke Stender (2B), Madi Heid (P/OF) and Maddie Buboltz (OF/SS), juniors Aubrie Porter (SS) and Kinzie Johnson (3B), and sophomore Chloe Loch (C).

“Looking forward to a powerful lineup and upper-class leadership,” said Bruzek.  “Pitching in the circle is going to be a key to win big games and I am hoping to see the sophomore and freshman classes gain experience to help win those games down the road.”

The Cardinals will be looking for varsity contributions from juniors Emma Walters (1B) and Brianna Burtzel (C/OF), and sophomores Peyton Goetsch (OF) and Tiahna Goeke (3B/OF).

O’Kane, Heid, Buboltz, Stender, Emma Jantzen and Erika Wentworth will serve as team captains.

Coach Bruzek sees Rocori as the favorite in Section 8AAA, with Brainerd joining the Spartans as the top teams in the CLC.
