The West Central Area softball team will be looking to improve on their 9-12 overall record and their 8-5 Pheasant Conference mark of a year ago as they hit the field this spring with a solid nucleus of experienced varsity players. Head Coach Vanessa McNamara will be assisted by Devonie Smith and Becca Holland (JV).
“We are fortunate to have a lot of returning players this year,” acknowledged McNamara. “With the strong leadership we are hoping to improve our record from last year. The girls have been working hard in the off-season preparing themselves for the jump to Class AA.”
Returning players include senior captains KJ Nibbe (3B/P) and Halle Foslien (OF), junior Claire Stark (1B/P), sophomore Alaina Sykora (OF), and freshmen Addison Staples (C) and Mya Foslien (SS).
Senior Tori Floden (OF), sophomores Madelyn Westrom and Whitney Westrom (2B), and freshmen Sophie Sanstead (OF) and Wylie McNally will be expected to fill varsity roles.
McNamara sees Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta as the top team in Section 3AA.
