Aaron Haugen assumes the head coaching reigns for the United Clay Becker (UCB) boys’ track and field team begins the 2022 season.  Working alongside Haugen will be Jon Hinirichs (Girls Head Coach, Middle-Distance), Sammi Sapa (Girls Head Coach, Sprints), Kailee Strand (Assistant, Sprints, Jumps), and Zion Smith (Assistant, Throws).

“We have added, and aged into, some nice depth in the 200 to 800 meter range of races,” reported Coach Haugen.  “The guys are off to a great start working hard this spring despite the less than ideal conditions outside.  We are looking forward to seeing growth throughout these next two months and will see how far our best can take us this year.  It’s a fun group of kids to be going to work with every day.  They make it easy to keep planning and having fun day-in and day-out at practice.”

Key returners for the UCB Badgers are juniors Taylor Johnson, Seth Torgerson, Derek Tibbetts, Braxton Boe, John Vetter and Bradley Olson, and freshman Levi Lelm.

Newcomers are junior Gabriele Borello, sophomores Landon Bakke and Davaun Stock, and freshmen Thor Erickson, Bridger Larson, Gunnar Fleming and Blake Bigger.

Haugen points to DGF, East Grand Forks and Park Rapids as the top teams in Section 8A with the Rebels at the top of the Heart O’ Lakes Conference.
