Tavia Bachmann takes on the role of Head Softball Coach at Frazee High School this spring, with help from Julie Karger, Taylor Tappe, Trey Heinsius, Jolene Tappe and Alexis Tappe.  The Hornets are coming off an 18-8 season, tying the school record for most wins ever, and a second place finish in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference with a record of 8-4.  They advanced into the Section 8AA semifinals before having their season come to an end.

They lost McKenna O’Brien (1B), Dani Piche (SS), Anissa Antonsen (3B) and Madi Starry (P/OF) to graduation, leaving some definite holes in their lineup.

“We have quite a few holes to fill from our graduation seniors, but this group is hard working and knows the game well,” explained Bachmann.  “We do have quite a few girls with many years of varsity experience that bring a knowledge of the game and intensity that we will need.”

Seniors Kiley Karger (2B), Malena Mahoney (P/OF), Annika Reierson (C/OF), Anna Drewes (OF), Harley Kropuenske (1B) and Claire Pausch (OF), are joined by juniors Faith Hamm (C/OF) and Kate Vigen (OF) as returning varsity starters.

Bachmann is also expecting junior Alexis Heaton (IF) and sophomore Riyan Eckert (P/IF) to be among the players competing for playing time.

“We have a strong section and conference,” noted Bachmann.  “Hawley, DGF and Pequot Lakes are always tough teams, but any team in our conference and section can be strong at any time!”
