Following their 24-3 season a year ago, including winning the Heart O’ Lakes Conference title and the Section 8AA Championship, the Hawley Nuggets are looking for more success in the 2022 season.  Head Coach Jackson Lyngaas is in his third year in the position.  He will be assisted by Alyson Brenna, Drew Thompson and Clair Anderson.

The Nuggets have seven seniors returning from that highly successful 2021 team.  They are Paige Blakeway (OF/1B), Kaylie Crabtree (SS), Kylie Crabtree (3B), Grace Fleming (1B/OF), Maki Halvorson (2B), Elle Hastings (P/1B) and Madi Walker (OF).

“Our strengths are our top pitcher and the defense returning behind her,” said Coach Lyngaas.  “The top of our lineup will be a good mix of speed and power.  Big keys to success will be consistent hitting in the bottom third of the lineup and replacing our top pitcher and catcher from last season.”

Varsity newcomers are freshman Izzy Steer (C/1B/OF) and eighth-graders Eagan Hastings (P), Hannah Stotts (OF) and Emily Vettern (C).

Coach Lyngaas sees DGF and Barnesville as the teams to beat in the HOL, with Thief River Falls joining the mix in Section 8AA.
