The 2021 track and field season was one for the record books for the Frazee girls’ team as they earned the Sub-Section 30 team championship, had a school record setting 4x400 meter relay team and a two-event place winner at the state tournament.  Rylee Moore (SR, Captain, relays, hurdles, triple jump, high jump) was fifth in the high jump (5’2”) and seventh in the triple jump (35-04.25) at the State Class A meet.  She will be joined by Braylee Riewer (SR, Captain, distance runner) as team captains.

All four members of the record setting 4x400 relay team, Elsie Ratz (SO, distance, pole vault), Jayden Sonnenberg (8th grade, relays, sprints, high jump), Brynn Larson (8th grade, sprints, relays, high jump) and Hailey Selly (SO, sprints, relays, triple jump), return this season.  Autumn Hiemenz (JR, Utility), Kaidence Mayfield (JR, hurdles) and Olivia Petron (JR, hurdles) are also back.

“We return the majority of our letter winners in most of our events, including last year’s two-event state entrant and our 4x400 relay members, and most of our sprint relay runners,” commented Head Coach Jim Jacobson, now in his twelfth season.  “Our girls work hard to push each other in practice and we have already seen some great things this season.”

Jacobson (Head Girls Coach, pole vault, distance) will be assisted by Brian Tangen (Head Boys Coach, high jump, sprinters), Jim Rader (long jump, triple jump), Jeff Johanssen (hurdles), Russ Hackel (throws) and Todd Larson (junior high, triple jump).
