Laura Januszewski takes the reigns as Pelican Rapids girls’ track and field coach this spring with “great numbers with a good mix of upper and under classmen.”  Januszewski says, “Our veterans will help the newcomers and we are really excited to see what will happen.”

Jake Januszewski (Assistant Coach), Cody Shaffer (Assistant Coach), Eli Beachy (Assistant Coach) and Jon Moe (Head Boys’ Coach) round out the coaching staff for the Vikings.

“Pelican Rapids has had a strong 4x400 meter relay tradition and we return two of the four legs of the team that took sixth in the state last year,” said Coach Januszewski.  “We have some newcomers that will look to fill the other two spots.  Our throws have been led by Diana Escobar and Janae Laferriere.  Both of these ladies are back and ready to throw farther this year.”

Senior Tori Stephenson (4x400, hurdles) and junior Kelsey Isaman (4x400) are the returning members of the 4x400 relay team.  Senior Olivia Kleinschmidt, freshman Sadie Funk, eighth-grader Morgan Korf and seventh-grader Megan Guler are all expected to contribute in various varsity roles.
