Brian Tangen is in his 31st year coaching track and field and his Frazee Hornets are coming off a third place finish in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference meet last season. The Hornets have lost several key members of their track and field team due to graduation the last couple of years, but Coach Tangen says, “We will not be very deep this year, however, we have some good individuals who can compete for a shot at the state meet.”
Among the top athletes returning are Nathan Johannsen (hurdles, 400, 800, high jump), Ian Cottrell (shot put, discus), Jonny Parsons (high jump, hurdles), Jayden Keeping (triple jump, 400, 800) and Skylure Lehman (400, 800). Johannsen and Cottrell will serve as team captains.
Tangen will be assisted by Jim Rader, Russ Hackel, Jeff Johannsen, Todd Larson and Jim Jacobson.
According to Coach Tangen, Perham and DGF are the teams to beat in the HOL and in Section 6A.
