Ottertail Central hits the field with a good mix of experience and youthful talent as they look forward to competing against their Park Region Conference baseball schedule, looking to improve on their 5-16 record of a year ago.  Evan Meece, Dakota Aeling and Mark Oscarson will assist Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson and the Bulldogs will need to find replacements for graduates Kayne Cameron, Joey Kupfer, Cian Buehler and Wyatt Severson.

“The Park Region has really good baseball and Section 8AA is a power house, but of course, we feel like we can contend,” stated Hendrickson.  “We have a great mix of returning players and guys battling for starts.  I am really excited to see how our team can contend versus some of the best AA teams in the State.”

Captain’s Jayden Harig (C) and Tyson Misegades (CF), will lead the team.  Starting infielders Hunter Haugen, Lane Dilly and Gavon Pausch all return and outfielder Owen Buehler is also a returning starter.

“We return a lot of starting players from last year and we have gained a lot of valuable experience by playing a lot of our guys on both the JV and Varsity teams,” said Hendrickson.  “We do not have any seniors, but we do have a really good mix of juniors, sophomores and possibly even a couple of freshmen that will be contending for starting jobs this spring.  Owen Harig is a freshman that will contend for an infield job, along with Soren Floden, a sophomore.  Eighth-graders Drew Evavold and Kale Misegades will also be competing for varsity spots.”

Hendrickson sees New York Mills and Wadena-Deer Creek as conference favorites this spring.  “They are both very athletic and talented baseball teams that have a lot of experience winning.”
Perham is once again the powerhouse team in Section 8AA.

“Seeing the growth of a very young baseball team was very fulfilling,” acknowledged Hendrickson.  “In order to get the most experience and success possible, our young team played a lot of innings of JV and Varsity baseball.  They were able to be successful at the JV level as they went 12-7-2, but at the same time they were able to battle against some very good varsity teams and went 5-18.  All of our guys went out for summer ball and were able to play a ton of innings, their hard work will pay off!”
