Hancock Girls Win Class A State Championship

The Hancock girls' basketball team overcame a 19-14 deficit to defeat Minneota 54-43 in the Class A championship game at Williams Arena on Saturday afternoon.  The Vikings jumped out to a 7-0 lead on the Owls as Hancock made only 5-of-15 first half field goal attempts.

The Owls started the second half with 9-2 run to take a 26-21 lead on three-point field goals from Misti Zempel, Kaitlyn Rohloff and Carlee Hanson.  The Owls were able to finish the game strong, posting an 11 point win.

Leaders for the Owls were Carlee Hanson (8 points, 6 rebound, 5 assists), Kaitlyn Rohloff (16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists), Zempel (11 points, 3 rebound, 3 assists, 2 blocks) and Rylee Hanson (13 points.  Hancock shot 51.6% from the floor and made 5-of-12 3's (41.7%).

Carlee Hanson, Rylee Hanson, Kaitlyn Rohloff and Karleigh Rohloff were all named to the Class A State Tournament team.

Hancock ends the season with a 30-1 record.
