Hancock shot 55% (22-40) from the field, made 12-of-18 (66.7%) 3’s and buried 15-of-18 free throws as they cruised to a 71-40 victory over Mayer Lutheran in the semifinal round of the Girls Class A State Basketball tournament on Friday at Williams Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
Mayer Lutheran struggled from the field, shooting 34.8% (16-46) from the field and making only 1-of-7 (14.3%) 3-pointers.
Carlee Hanson recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while adding 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the Owls. Kaitlyn Staples and Kaitlyn Rohloff scored 17 points each. Rohloff chipped in with 3 assists and 3 steals. Rylee Hanson contributed 16 points and 4 boards.
Madeline Guetzkow (13 points, 7 rebounds) and Julia Carns (11 points, 6 rebounds) led Mayer Lutheran.
Hancock (29-1) will face Minneota in the Class A Championship at noon on Saturday at Williams Arena.
