13th Straight Win Sends Hancock Girls into 6A Championship Game

Hancock won for a 13th straight time and improved their season record to 26-1 with a 50-43 win over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Wednesday night in the Section 6A South Sub-Section girls’ basketball championship game at Minnewaska Area High School in Glenwood.  The Owls will now clash with Underwood on Friday night at 7:00pm in Fergus Falls for the Section 6A title.

Carlee Hanson (14 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, 5 steals, 4 deflections) and Rylee Hanson (12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 deflections) were both in double digits for the Owls.  Misti Zempel added 8 points and 7 boards and Karleigh Rohloff led the team with 4 assists.  Hancock shot 33% (17-52) from the field and made 27% (7-26) 3-point shots.

The Warriors shot 26% (12-47) on the night and hit 32% (6-19) of their 3’s.  They also had a 29-25 advantage on the boards, but were hurt by 18 turnovers.

Brylie Schultz led Wheaton/Herman-Norcross with 11 points and 8 rebounds.  Elllissa Rinke nearly had a triple-double, finishing with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross ends their season with a record of 22-4.
