The Hancock girls’ basketball team hosted Benson in the Section 6A playoffs on Thursday night and took control early with a 49-9 halftime lead. The Owls went on to win the game 75-15, shooting 47% (26-55) from the floor and winning the rebounding battle 26-13.
Carlee Hansen (19 points, 4 assists, 3 steals, 7 deflection) and Kaitlyn Rohloff (18 points, 7 assists, 6 steals, 4 deflections) were in double digits for the Owls. Rylee Hanson (9 points), Karleigh Rohloff (8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals) and Kaitlyn Staples (8 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, 5 deflections) provided some balanced production on the court. Brooke VerSteeg contributed 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Hancock had 22 steals and 20 assists in the game, forcing 31 turnovers and holding the Braves to 20% (5-25) shooting.
Hancock (24-1) will face Brandon-Evansville at 1:00pm Saturday in a 6A Quarterfinal contest at Minnewaska Area High Schoool in Glenwood.
