Fergus Falls connected on sixteen 3-point field goals on Thursday night as the top-seeded Otters opened the Section 8AA Girls’ Basketball Playoffs with an 88-35 win over Warroad. The Otters had a pair of 13-0 runs as they build a commanding 56-15 lead at the half. Tori Ratz (22 points, 6 3’s) and Ellie Colbeck (21 points, 5 3’s) combined for 43 points and 11 3’s in the first 18 minutes.
Ratz added a pair of second half 3’s, finishing with a game high 28 points. She also had 4 assists and 2 steals. Colbeck added 6 assists, 2 steals and a block. Centreya Lockett had 8 points and 7 rebounds off the bench. The Otters had only 8 turnovers in the game.
Sophomore Faith Lilly led Warroad with 19 points, 13 of them in the second half.
Fergus Falls (21-5) will host a second round game at 7:00pm Saturday against the Barnesville Trojans. Barnesville defeated Wadena-Deer Creek 55-34 on Thursday night in their first round playoff game.
