United North Central fell to Royalton-Upsala in the quarterfinal round of the Class A State Wrestling Tournament on Thursday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The Warriors lost 49-16 in the match and will wrestle in the consolation semifinals against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa.
Royalton Upsala won the first five matches with 3 pints and a pair of decision to open up a 24-0 lead over the Warriors.
Dylan Rasmussen (183) picked up the first win for the Warriors, recording an 11-7 decision over Brady Yourczek. That win was followed by an 11-2 major decision by Hank Tellers (145) and a pin by Ethan Hendrickson (152), cutting the deficit to 24-13.
A decision, followed by two more pins brought the lead back up to 39-13 before Torrey Carlson (195) posted a 3-0 decision to make the score 39-16. A major decision at 220 and a pin at 285 put the final score at 49-16, in favor of Royalton Upsala.
