The New York Mills boys’ basketball team had another good week going 2-0! “It has been an odd last couple of weeks with minimal practices and tons of shifting schedules, but I'm very pleased with where the team currently stands and how we are operating on both offense and defense,” said Eagles Head Coach Mike Baune.

Thursday the Eagles beat a big and physical Parkers Prairie team, 80-58. “Like many teams seem to do against us they came out on fire from 3 in the first half and we made the adjustments to defend it better and the law of averages equaled out to help us to a 37-20 2nd half finish to close it out,” noted Coach Baune.

Tate Olson registered a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.  He also had 8 assists.  Noah Noffsinger had 15 points and 4 assists, Bryan Bohn nailed 5 3-pointers to finish with 15 points and Jack Peeters was also in double digits with 12 points, while adding 5 rebounds.  Jonah Johnson contributed 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists, and Breck Hensch chipped in with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

On Friday New York Mills traveled to Barnesville for a road matchup against a good Class AA Heart O' Lakes school and arguably played their best all-around game. “We executed our game plan to perfection and frustrated Barnesville on offense all night long which led to a ton of fast break points for us,” reported Coach Baune. “It's been very fun to see the leadership and ownership of our top 6 seniors continue to expand and grow. We ended up winning 77-49.”

Olson (19 points, 13 rebounds, 13 assists, 7 steals) recorded a triple-double in that game.  Peeters (16 points, 6 rebounds), Johnson (15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists), Noffsinger (14 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) and Bohn (11 points, 6 rebounds) were all in double figures.
