Eagles Place 5 Players in Double Digits to Beat Barnesville 77-49

Barnesville hosted New York Mills in a high school boys’ basketball game on Friday night with the Eagles recording a 77-49 win over the Trojans.  New York Mills took a 7-0 lead to start the game, but Barnesville battled back to tie the game at 15-15.  At that point, the Eagles went on a 9-0 run to establish a 24-15 lead and led 40-26 at the half.  New York Mills shot 66% (35-53) from the field.

Tate Olson scored 19 points to lead five players in double figures for New York Mills.  Jack Peeters added 16, Jonah Johnson 15, Noah Noffsinger 14 and Bryan Bohn 11.

“That’s the most talented team we have seen this season,” said Barnesville Assistant Coach Tracy Hinsz.  “They are very athletic and fundamentally sound.  They definitely possess a high basketball IQ.”

Zach Bredman paced Barnesville with 13 points, 5 steals and 4 assists.  Kaden Zenzen had a team high 11 rebounds and Wyatt Suter grabbed 8 boards.  Tate Inniger and Noah Krause scored 8 points apiece.  Barnesville struggled from the field, hitting only 27% (19-68) of their shots.

New York Mills (23-1) will host Sebeka on Monday and Browerville on Tuesday in their final two regular season contests.

Barnesville (13-9) will host Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Tuesday and close out their regular season schedule with a road game at Pelican Rapids on Friday night.
