Wheaton/Herman-Norcross shot 44% (19-43) from the field and placed 3 players in double figures on Friday night as they coasted to a 72-33 win over Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in high school girls’ basketball.

“I thought this was such a great team effort,” said Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Assistant Coach Corey Spilde.  “We played what could be our best game of the year.  Our defensive intensity was great and our scoring was balanced.  We had six girls score 7 points or more.  We also shot fantastic from the line, which is something I've been challenging the girls to improve on.  I also thought our half-court offense was the best it's been all year.  We passed the ball and found the open person all night, against a very good defensive team.  This was just the kind of effort we want going into the section tournament.”

Julia Schmidt led the way with 17 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals.  Brylie Schultz had 13 points and 7 rebounds, and Jordyn Perry finished with 13 points.

The Warriors won the battle of the boards, 34-23, and held the Fighting Saints to 31% (10-32) shooting on the night.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross received the number two seed in Section 6A South and will host a playoff game on Thursday night.
