Hawley hosted Perham in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference boys’ basketball game on Friday night and the Nuggets came out on top, 56-43.

“Tonight was a slow paced, physical basketball game,” said Hawley Head Coach Nathan Stoa. “This season we’ve found ways to win physical basketball games, tonight we learned how to win at a much different pace than is customary for us. The guys really toughened up on the defensive side of the ball and did a good job finishing possessions. To quote our assistant coach Zion Smith, “A win’s a win.”

Sam Senske led the Nuggets with 18 points and Hayden Grani contributed 9.  Brevin Stoa finished with 8 points in the game.  Hawley shot 51% (24-47) from the floor.

Perham was led by 11 points from Micah ThompsonSoren Anderson and Alex Ohm each had 8 points, with Anderson also pulling down 6 rebounds.  Jacob Daniels grabbed a team high 8 rebounds.  Perham shot 40% (16-40) from the field.

Hawley (15-5, 7-4 HOL) avenged an earlier loss to Perham.  They will travel to Fosston on Monday.

Perham (11-9, 5-5 HOL) has a road game at Fergus Falls on Saturday and travels to Breckenridge on Monday.
