The New York Mills boys’ basketball team recorded a trio of wins this past week, improving their season record to 21-1.

The Eagles started the week with a 100-73 win on Monday against Pillager.  “We had a massive offensive explosion and we hit the century mark at the buzzer,” commented New York Mills Head Coach Mike Baune.  “Many guys found a rhythm and our offense clicked on all cylinders.”

Tuesday the Eagles traveled to Bertha and overcame a slow start to win 75-51.  “We were pretty worn down from the night before and had to pull out of our press for the entire second half,” noted Baune.  “I was very happy with our half court defensive effort in the second half and that carried us to the win.”

Verndale had won 8 of their last 9 games before running into New York Mills on Thursday.  The Eagles won 78-30.  “We put on our best all-around performance of the season by far,” said Baune.  “It felt great to see everybody clicking together offensively and defensively at the same time.  I was really proud of our kids.”

The Eagles will host Sebeka on Tuesday and Parkers Prairie on Thursday before heading to Barnesville for a game on Friday.
