Fergus Falls scored a short-handed goal and a power play goal in the first period of their game against St. Cloud on Thursday night and went on to post a 3-2 victory over the Crush at the MAC in St. Cloud, finishing their regular season schedule with a record of 16-9.  Fergus Falls put 23 shots on the St. Cloud net and goaltender Ben Swanson stopped 25-of-27 shots by the Crush.

An unassisted short-handed goal by Isaac Johnson at 7:14 of the first period put Fergus Falls ahead 1-0.  Johnson’s second goal of the night came on the power play at 14:44 and was assisted by Landon Thacker and Shane Zierden.

St. Cloud cut the lead in half when Andrew Cumming scored at 2:49 of the second period, assisted by Ryan Behl.

Michael DeBrito’s unassisted tally at 6:13 of the third provided the Otters with a two goal lead.  St. Cloud closed out the scoring at 14:01 when Ben Eiynck found the back of the net off assists from Cumming and Behl.

“Good effort tonight as the guys competed and won lots of little battles,” stated Fergus Falls Head Coach Mike Donaghue.  “Isaac Johnson created lots of chances and scored the first two goals for us.  Cole Zierden played a great game and made lots of plays for us.”

Section 6A seedings will be announced on Friday with the Otters expected to get the number two seed behind Alexandria.
