Otter Girls Gain Season Split with Willmar after 66-57 Road Win

The Fergus Falls girls’ basketball team gained a season split with Willmar when they handed the Cardinals a 66-57 loss on Thursday night.  The Otters went on a 12 point run early to put up a 14-2 lead and led 35-25 at the half.  Willmar fought back to tie the game at 48-48, however, Fergus Falls went on an 18-9 run to end the game with a 9-point win.

 

“We got off to a hot start, but it was a game of runs,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Josh Steer.  “We let them crawl back into the game but we had a nice run at the end.”

Ellie Colbeck scored a game high 25 points and Tori Ratz scored all 18 of her points in the first half.  Ainsley Hansen was also in double digits with 10 points.  Karley Braeger and Hannah Polejewski finished with 7 and 6 points, respectively.  The Otters made 8 3’s in the game with 7 of them coming in the first half.  They also made all 10 of their free throw attempts.  Rebound leaders were Colbeck with 9 and Hansen with 5.  Colbeck added 4 assists and Ratz contributed 3.

Willmar was led by Ellary Lange with 14 points. Samantha Christoffer and Jaida Reiman each had 11 and Kenedee Salonek added 10.

Fergus Falls (17-5, 10-2 CLC) will play a makeup game against the St. Cloud Crush on Friday night.

Willmar goes to 16-8 overall and 9-4 in the CLC.
