Andrews 4 Goal Night Carries Otters into Section Championship Game

Piper Andrews scored four times on Tuesday night to lead the Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team to a 6-1 win over the Willmar Cardinals in the semifinal round of the Section 6A playoffs.  The Otters had 21 shots on goal and the Cardinals finished with 19 shots on the Fergus Falls net.

Maddie Hulter got the scoring started when she scored from Skye Norgren at 9:02 of the first period.

Andrews scored an unassisted goal two minutes into the second period and then added a goal from Rylynn Krein.

Willmar’s lone goal of the game came just 25 seconds into the third period when Willmar scored a goal.  Nina Dawson scored from Becca Dawson, and Makenna Larson.  Fergus Falls then took total control of the game, finishing with 3 straight goals.  The first was an unassisted tally from Andrews, completing her hat trick.  A short-handed goal from Hannah Johnson at 9:52 was also unassisted and gave the Otters a 5-1 lead.  Andrews’ fourth goal of the game was unassisted at 12:50.

Ana Jyrkas had 18 saves in the Fergus Falls net.  The Otters will play River Lakes, a 2-1 winner in overtime against Northern Lakes in the other semifinal contest, on Friday at the Runestone Community Center in Alexandria at a time that is yet to be determined.
