Ellie Colbeck scored 24 of her game-high 39 points in the second half as the Otter Girls overcame a 34-25 halftime deficit, posting a 61-48 CLC home win over Brainerd Tuesday night. The win avenged a 63-62 loss to the Warriors in Brainerd earlier this season.

With good size and athleticism, Brainerd led by as much as fifteen points (29-14) with just over 3:00 to go in the opening half before Colbeck led a rally in the closing moments with a conventional 3-point play and ensuing mid-court steal and lay-up. Brainerd  took a 34-25 lead at the half, connecting on half of their 24  shots from the field, including five from behind the arc.

In the second half the Otters began looking to Colbeck exclusively for scoring and pulled within three (43-40) midway thru the half, got back down by seven (47-40), and then made a big 19-1 run to finish the game. A Colbeck basket tied the game 47-47 with 8:00 to go before the Warriors took their last lead 48-47 shortly after. Colbeck received second-half scoring help from Tori Ratz, Ainsley Hansen, and Cyntreya Lockett off the bench, who added a pair of baskets each. Brainerd was hurt when 6-1 Sr. post Olivia Tautges, who had scored 18 points, picked up her 4th foul and had to sit on the bench before returning in the final minutes.

The Otters shot just under 60% (15-26) in the second half and finished the game 26-of-55 for 47%. Aiding Colbeck on the scoreboard were Ratz , Hansen, and Lockett with 8, 7, and 6, respectively.

Brainerd made just 6-of-22 second-half shots and were led by Tautges with 18 points. Myah Nelson added 11 points and A.J. Johnson 10 points off the bench.

Fergus Falls moved into a first-place tie with Brainerd in the Central Lakes Conference with both teams 9-2 and having identical 16-5 overall records. The Otters have two more conference games this week as they will travel to Willmar on Thursday and host the St. Cloud Crush on Friday.
