Viking Boys Complete Season Sweep of Perham at The Hive

Pelican Rapids paid a visit to ‘The Hive’ in Perham to face the Yellowjackets in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference boys’ basketball contest on Tuesday night.  The Vikings led 29-23 at the half and finished the night with a 64-59 victory over the Yellowjackets.

“This was a nice bounce back win on the road for our guys tonight after dropping one at home Saturday,” noted Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud. “We played with more energy defensively and stayed aggressive on offense which was a big key for us.”

Leaders for the Vikings were Timmy Guler with 23 points, Ian Fahje with 19 and Hunter Williams with a dozen.  Pelican Rapids made 49% (20-41) of their field goal attempts and 44.4% (4-9) of their 3-point shots.  They also held a 28-15 edge on the boards.

Perham was led by 24 points and 7 rebounds from Soren AndersonMicah Thompson added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists, and Chas Melvin had 10 points.  Perham made 51% (24-47) of their shots and 40% (4-10) of their 3’s.

Pelican Rapids (15-5, 7-1 HOL) completed their season sweep of Perham with the win.  They will play at Hawley on Friday.

Perham (10-7, 5-3 HOL) will play a road game with DGF on Friday night.
