The Hawley Nuggets and Barnesville Trojans had a real barn burner battle on Tuesday night with the Nuggets pulling out a 69-65 Heart O’ Lakes Conference victory over the Trojans.  Sam Senske's 3-pointer at the buzzer tied the game at 58-58, sending it to overtime.

Senske led four Nuggets in double figures, scoring 16 points.  Mason Gratton and Hayden Grani added 13 and 12 points, respectively, and Brevin Stoa contributed 10.

“In the first half we had to fight the uphill battle through Barnesville’s physicality and some scoring droughts,” said Hawley Head Coach Nathan Stoa.  “We showed a lot of grit in the second half and made some really heady plays to keep us in reach at the end.  Sam Senske stepped in with confidence and hit the huge game-tying three to get us to overtime.  Down the stretch we were able to overcome some foul trouble and guys fouling out, which is a testament to our guys, their preparedness, and their willingness to step up into whatever role we ask of them.  It was a good, hard fought conference win.”

Zach Bredman had a game high 25 points to lead the Trojans.  He also had 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.  Kaden Zenzen added 15 points and 8 rebounds, and Tate Inniger had a dozen points and 9 boards.  Barnesville won the rebounding battle, 41-29.

Hawley (13-4) will play back-to-back HOL games at home on Friday against Pelican Rapids and on Saturday against Frazee.

Barnesville (11-8) has home games on Thursday with Minnewaska Area and Friday with Breckenridge.
