Section 8AA Team Wrestling Tournament action begins on Tuesday night with the top four seeds hosting first round and quarterfinal round matchups. The semifinals will be at six o’clock on Friday at Detroit Lakes, followed by the championship match at 7:30pm. The winner will advance to the Class AA State Wrestling Team Tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on March 3.
Top seed in the East went to Pequot Lakes-Pine River-Backus. #4 in the East Albany and #5 in the East Park Rapids will face each other at 6:00pm Tuesday in Pine River with the winner advancing to take on the host team at 7:30pm.
The East #2 seed, Alexandria, will host a first round match between #3 East seed Perham and #6 Sauk Centre/Melrose at 6 with the winner facing the Cardinals at 7:30pm.
Thief River Falls is the top seed in the West and Fergus Falls (#4 West) will go up against United Clay Becker (#5 West) in a first round match at 6:00pm, with the winner facing the Prowlers at 7:30.
D-G-F (#2 West) will host a first round match between Detroit Lakes (#3 West) and Roseau (#6 West) at 6:00pm Tuesday in Glyndon, with the Rebels taking on the winner at 7:30pm.
