The Central Lakes Conference Girls’ Hockey Championship was on the line in Little Falls on Tuesday night and the Flying Warriors of Brainerd/Little Falls prevailed in a hard-fought defensive battle, beating the Fergus Falls Otters 1-0. Brainerd/Little Falls outshot the Otters 39-27 and Ana Jyrkas stopped 38 of the 39 shots in the Fergus Falls net, including career save number 1000.
The only goal of the game came 6:22 into the opening period when Reagan Aus found the back of the net from Avery LeMieur.
“What a fantastic defensive battle,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill. “We learned a lot about ourselves tonight. We gave a playoff effort versus a great team.”
The Otters finish the regular season schedule with a record of 18-5-2. They will face the winner of Thursday’s game between Willmar and Northern Lakes in the Section 6A semifinals next Tuesday at 7:00pm at the Community Arena in Fergus Falls. The Otters are the number one seed in Section 6A.
