The Alexandria Cardinal wrestling team traveled up to Fergus Falls on Friday for a quad against Ottertail Country Central (OTC), Fergus Falls, and Sartell. These duals presented a great opportunity for the Cardinal wrestlers since Fergus Falls is both a conference and section opponent and Sartell is a conference opponent.  Alexandria beat Fergus Falls 60-15, topped OTC 63-18 and lost to Sartell 46-36.

The guys did not disappoint and came out firing on all cylinders scoring 60+ points in each of the first two duals. A couple exciting moments in the dual with OTC: Blaze Nelson and Kelly Johnson each collected their 100th career victory! This a huge accomplishment in a wrestlers career and shows the tremendous effort and commitment these 2 young men have to the sport of wrestling and the Alexandria Cardinal program. Congratulations to both these guys!

When the last dual began with Sartell we knew it was going to be a close and exciting dual and it did not disappoint. Going into the last weight the dual was up for grabs and whoever won that match would likely win the dual. Unfortunately for the Cards, we came up just a little short in that last match but the effort and energy tonight was tremendous from all the wrestlers. They gave themselves a chance and put themselves in a position to win each and every match tonight; it was great to see that effort and energy as we begin the stretch run before section tournaments.

On the night, Nolan Fettig, Mason McGrane, Blaze Nelson, Kelly Johnson, and Mason Teaser all went 3-0. The Cards return to action on Tuesday next week when they travel to Sauk Centre-Melrose for a quad with Sauk Centre-Melrose, Paynesville, and Ortonville.
