Chalk up a pair of big wins this past week for the New York Mills boys’ basketball team.  The week started with an 88-60 road win at Pillager on Thursday and ended with a 73-47 victory at Rothsay on Saturday.

“We scored a ton of transition points to win big in a game that was a sloppy, up tempo contest,” said Eagles Head Coach Mike Baune.

Tate Olson (27 points, 17 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 steals) just missed a triple-double.  Jonah Johnson (24 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 7 steals), Noah Noffsinger (13 points, 4 assists) and Breck Hensch (10 points, 6 rebounds) also contributed to the win.

“Our win in Rothsay was one of our most complete games all season,” noted Baune.  “Everybody got involved and we clicked on all cylinders.”

Olson did get the elusive triple-doubles in the win over the Tigers with 19 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists.  Noffsinger had 19 points, Jack Peeters added 17 and Johnson had 10 points and 7 assists.

New York Mills (17-1) will host Henning on Tuesday night in a big Park Region Conference matchup.  The Eagles won an overtime game in Henning earlier this season, which is the only loss for the Hornets.
